It's when you go for small profits, like 3 or 4 pips per trade.

Scalping is when you aim for 2-5 pips on a very short period of time. There are many scalping strategies but the big issue is the spread. If the broker has a big spread, you have to make up for the spread plus your profit. Some brokers do not allow scalping. Some brokers have small spreads plus a certain transaction fee.

Forex Scalping can also be called a quick trading. It is a method where traders allow their positions to last only for a matter of seconds, to a full minute and rarely longer than that.

The purpose of scalping is making small profits while exposing a trading account to a very limited risk, which is due to a quick open/close trading mode.
